Every woman’s secret dream would be having a walk-in closet like Carrie’s from the all famous sitcom SATC (sex and the city). But in real life how many of us can afford such mammoth walk-in space solely for our wardrobes? Would we really like to give our clothes a designated corner in today’s capsule size houses? Apart from the space, the making process of such a ‘walk-in closet’ would be impossible task.
In today’s fast paced life where no one has the time to breathe, where on earth are we going to hunt around for a carpenter (traditionally a very common practice in Asia especially India) who will commit to us on making the perfect wardrobe in the ‘agreed’ amount and in the ‘specified’ time? And even if we do find someone like that, will we be brave enough to live with the constant hammering and drilling noise throughout the day? Not to mention the dust and the filth flying across the house for months with no guarantee of how the wardrobe would look like once it’s done. Last but not the least, the smell of the paint would give us a splitting headache every time we walk into\across the room
It was easier back when we were younger to go through the above process because space was aplenty and materials\labour not as costly. Workers like the carpenters were easily available and skilled in their art and people had time to go through the tedious process of getting the wardrobes made one by one.
Can we do it today? I don’t think so. Who has the time to endure all the above? And why should we when we have so many attractive alternatives to choose from…
Today there are many companies like Easy Closet in USA, Komandor in Europe and Luxus in India who offer us customised and readymade wardrobes without any of the hassles. All we have to do is select the style, colour, veneers, finishes and personal requirements of how many drawers or shelves needed and voila! We have our perfect wardrobe in front of us. Companies like Luxus work with a “CAD-CAM” facility which helps the client create their ideas & requirements on a computer and once the client approves the design it goes directly to the factory – enabling the client to have a factory finished customised wardrobe.
With the latest international design and customisation as per our Indian mindset, it gives us a different offering then what a carpenter made cupboard would give. From styling to durability to finishing we get it all. And the fixing\installation is all undertaken by them!
With so many choices in colours, materials and patterns we can have the whole feel of the painstaking customised wardrobe minus all the “keech-keech” (hassle). So why should\would one not opt for this attractive alternative? and say Unlock’d.. the way to go!
