Home is where the heart lies, widely considered as a quote this proverb is indeed more of a fact.
In today’s home story I unwind to you that corner of my house which lets my be who we are, where we meet, greet and celebrate the smallest joys with the ones we love. That part of our house that reflects how the essence of my family and hence making it the most beautiful corner of my house.
Set in a corner of my house, the living room is designed to perfection Mr. Dexter Fernandez and team Uneven. The beauty of this room is that it does not look as old as it really is, renovated about 7 years ago the living room still is chick and sleek.
The room is divided into 3 beautiful spaces, where each serves a pre determined function.
Entering the majestic room with glass doors gives one the royal feel, the royal presence continues because of the dark wood flooring and the gold embellished wallpaper that runs through the big wall.
The first space that comes to view is a round cards table. Our family being a Marwari one, we have frequent card parties. Made up of glass embedded with ivory colored Italian marble and wooden chairs the table also serves the purpose of a food bar.
The magic of an architect makes the ugly look beautiful. Two structural pillars were transformed in such a way that they created beautiful niches. Being a part of the high society in vadodara, these niches are clad with beautiful pieces from famous ornamentation companies across the globe highlighting their travel.
The main space is dawned by two ‘L’ shaped sofa sets that run along the wall making ample space for 8- 10 guests. Clad with glitter cushions and lamps and vases on each side, both the sofa sets have a portable coffee table which is also timber made continuing the theme of the room. The third section is a small cozy one where lays a basin and a mosaic mirror.
Another major wall of the room has a wooden panel on which the television resides; the wooden panel also has small grooving which are filled with white pebbles giving the room a calming presence.
Part of the ceiling sees an artificial wooden panel that stretches overhead the main sofa. The wall behind the same also sees an Intricate designed panel with a glass covering on top. This was done to give the Marwari essence of detailed carving but with that of a modern touch.
As the architect thinks off set, the lamps, candles and the carvings all are placed in an offset manner, Where nothing is centrally divided.
The room is done in earthy colours of beige, brown, whites and olive green. Dashes of ivory, gold and reds seem to uplift the colour of the room. Making the room calm yet like a style statement.
Highly decorated with vases, glasses pieces and expensive statues the room has a royal floral theme that spreads across ranging from the wallpaper to that of the dustbin.
The room took about 3-4 months to be renovated with months of brain storming. Each corners of the room was designed to perfection portraying the essence of the home maker Shilpa kanoria who herself is a gourmet chef.
‘This is that corner of my house which reflects the family hence needs a lot of care like ones family does. Made to look royal yet has the freshness of flowers which is similar to the members of the family where everyone be it my youngest son or my father in law radiates happiness and makes home fresh ‘Says the home maker shilpa kanoria.
