When Fashion goes delicious!
India is a land where traditional sarees are enjoyed for their rich embroidered work, zardosi glare, pretty embellished styles and much more havocs. From tant, cotton, jute and khadi, to royal silk, Banarasi silk sarees and tussar, so much can be found here in our ethnic couture. And the privilege to drape these pretty dazzling silk drapes is something unexplainable. In the world of fashion, every day brings an evolution and fashionistas just love to embrace this change with élan. Here we have brought a list of saree draping techniques to experiment with stylish silk sarees.
Just think; what fun would it be if traditional Banarasi silk sarees were draped in a quirky way that no one imagined before? Check out these 5 saree draping styles that will make anyone look on in awe!
1. Where Is The Pallu?
You don’t have to twist and turn the pallu of a saree to the back and can simply bring it forward from the loop of your arms and carry it like a regal symbol. Avoid cotton silk sarees and try this style with tussar silk, Banarsi silk sarees, Chanderi silk sarees, etc. as it will enable you to carry it off with ease
2. Tie Shirt Sleeves At Waist
It’s not rocket science to adopt this voguish look with any of the embroidered silk saree draping. The only additional cloth that you need to carry is your full sleeves shirt or T-shirt. Drape your saree in a regular way, then bring your pallu forward and let it fall loose. Now tie your shirt’s or tee’s sleeves tightly across your waist and saree. Make sure the knot is tight enough to hold itself firmly.
3. Through The Blouse
This can be done only with a shirt or crop top blouses that are easy to wear and if possible, have a flap to insert saree pallu into. Just make sure the length of your blouse is extra short so that it will not bother you while saree draping. Wear terracotta earrings or tribal jewellery to accentuate that perfect contemporary look.
4. Knot At The Neck
Drape your saree as it is, pull your pallu around through the neck and then tie a loose knot. Make sure that the knot is neither too loose nor too tight so that you can walk around easily and comfortably. Choose black or peppy colour sarees for the art and complement it with stylish statement jewellery.
5. N With Denim Jacket
Layering has been a trend for ages, but here it is not what it looks like. You are not layering this denim jacket over your traditional blouse but keeping it as your complementary blouse for the saree chosen. Pull on the pallu from inside and it let fall loosely to your back. Complement your complete athleisure drama with black stud earrings and a metallic watch. Finish it off with espadrilles, strapped sandals, peppy colour peep toe heels or platform wedges in jute.
We hope that you give your saree draping technique this stylish twist, stay ahead of every one else and trend high on the styl-o-meter this summer!
